The Company

The BFI Automation Mindermann GmbH, offers solutions for industrial flame monitoring. The owner-managed in the second generation company was founded in 1973 and based in Ratingen and is now represented by sales and service offices in over 20 countries. With its sister company BST Solutions GmbH BFI Automation Mindermann GmbH forms the group Mindermann.

1973
Establishing the BFI Automation Dipl.-Ing. Kurt-Henry Mindermann GmbH & Co. KG The focus in industrial automation. Development and production of the entire ERI equipment programs, will be still in the main factory Ratingen.
1977
Changing of focus to flame monitoring and evaluation systems
1980
First completely electronic flame scanner without mechanical shutter for self checking
1982
The System 3000 is presented and begins its triumphal procession.
1989
Design of plastic separation systems (green dot)
1990
Design of the very first compact flame controller (8.x) for continuous operation
1991
Mr. Dipl.-Ing. Kurt-Henry Mindermann founds HTE Mindermann GmbH as a production company for the BFI Automation.
1991
74% of shares were sold to RWE (German electricity company) – focus on various items of environmental systems in addition to flame monitoring systems.
1993
The fibre optic technology is entering the BFI flame monitoring systems
1994
Design of the first ORFEUS system for the spectral analysis of combustion processes.
1995
The BFI Automation is moving to Eggerscheidter Str. 57 in Ratingen-Hösel
1996
Management changed to RWE as Dipl.-Ing. K.H. Mindermann retired (but remained until 2012 active with the HTE)
1998
The BFI Automation is certified according to DIN ISO 9001 certified.
1999
All shares were bought back by K.-H. Mindermann and J.M. Mindermann – focusing again on flame monitoring and evaluation systems
2000
The BFI Automation built its own EMC laboratory
2000
The compact flame controllers are CSA approved 8.xx.
2001
Design of the first compact flame controller which is suitable for use in multi burner application like gas/oil/coal fired power stations.
2002
The System 3000 is CSA approved.
2003
Design of the KLC series for OEM product range – first with µP and communication capability
2004
The BST Solutions GmbH is founded with the objective flame monitoring systems for industrial and domestic burners to deliver.
2005
The first bus-enabled Compact Flame Controller CFC3000 with the converter 5012 to hit the market.
2006
The flame scanner 2.0 and the Flame Amplfier 3001 are certified to SIL3 by TÜV Rhineland.
2006
The BFI Automation USA LLC was founded to sales, delivery and support of the North American market to guarantee.
2008
Integration of a pulse signal for the CFC series for fail safe replacement technology on GE frame size gas turbines
2010
The compact flame controller series CFC x000 receive the UL certificate.
2010
Implementing a multi output technology for CFC gas turbine series for the connection to different controls – selectable by jumper
2013
Remote visualization and programming of CFC 4000 series with special protection. TUV approved
2013
The founder of the BFI Automation Dipl.-Ing. KH Mindermann dies in December
2014
The employees of HTE are taken over by the BFI Automation and the complete production is performed in-house again.
2014
New generation of the communication module 6012 with SD memory card for online data logging

The UV-Compact Flame Detector is UL certified CFC100.
